The Story Behind #KillAllWhiteMen

Perhaps understandably, Bahar Mustafa no longer uses T witter . Early last year a Twitter account allegedly used by the Goldsmiths College Student Union Diversity and Welfare Officer, carried four short words that would change her life. “ KillAllWhiteMen ”, the GSU_Welfare account read . What followed this particular tweet  was a media frenzy , and one that raises some serious questions about contemporary society and how we interact with modern social media. It is a place where many express their views and opinion about issues. However, many forget that serious consequences could follow, which may threaten and arguably offend individuals. At Goldsmiths Mustafa was entrusted with organising a student union meeting intended for minority ethnic women and non-binary attendees. Mustafa was initially accused of racism for asking white men not to attend a student union meeting, followed by a problematic race row, which saw her accused of using the hashtag #KillAllWhiteMen

Gauchos Review

Gauchos Piccadilly Entrance My friends always hype about this ‘amazing’ restaurant called Gauchos, which sounded great but, in my opinion, didn’t live up to its reputation after we dined there. As I am not a Londoner myself, I still have many restaurants to visit in the capital and Gauchos was at the top of my bucket list, which is why I suggested we should dine at the Argentinian restaurant for a friend’s birthday. The story behind its name ‘Gauchos’ is iconic to Argentinians as it symbolises “bravery, honour, and independence.” Their story explains that “the gaucho is an embodiment of national pride. In fact, a  gauchada  means a good deed or an act of heroism, courage or heartfelt generosity.” Gauchos is a steakhouse with 12 restaurants around London and two in the North of England; the chain can also be found in Dubai, Hong Kong, and Buenos Aires and they serve a variety of dishes from seafood to poultry and vegetarian options. Racism In Nightclubs

Some club owners today say that they would rather not let black people and partygoers of ethnic minorities into their clubs as they are sometimes seen as violent and troublesome, although there is very little proof of these claims. Many argue that this is not the case and club owners are using this as an opportunity to prevent the entry of black people into their clubs. The ‘no hats, no hoods and no trainers’ policy are the type of rules that are expected in London’s leading clubs, but, with this view, they may as well take a ‘no black people ’ attitude too. In September 2015, Zalika Miller and her friends were refused entry into Dstrkt, a club in London’s West End, despite being on the guestlist . The reason for their refusal was due to the fact that one of the girls was “too black,” as they were told by a promoter before they got to the door.
